Chaos at Howe Community Park Sends 4 People Shot in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade

Officials in Sacramento County are probing a violent incident that took place on April 18 2026 at Howe Park in Sacramento at the time law enforcement were breaking up a large unsanctioned party of multiple hundreds of people.

How It Started

Officers from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office were first called to the park shortly before 6:30 PM after getting calls of persons possibly in possession of concealed weapons. Not long after, a follow-up call was made mentioning a potential altercation occurring near the park.

A sheriff's airship conducted an aerial sweep but reported no active disturbance. Regardless, authorities discovered that an enormous crowd had assembled at the park without official sanction.

The Dispersal and Shooting

Deputies set about removing people from the park by setting up around the park's perimeter and issuing commands over loudspeakers ordering the hundreds present to leave immediately. Roughly 15 minutes were spent for attendees to disperse.

Four People Shot

In total, four people were found to have been shot. The store itself was secured under a brief lockdown while the scene was active. CSI investigators and detectives continued working late into the evening.

Arrests Made

Information relayed over police scanner frequencies established that a Kia had been detained in an area within Solano County. Four people were stopped and detained. Deputies were en route to collect those detained to transport the detainees for investigation. Video reviewed at the scene established that two separate shooters participated in the incident.
